UIDAI provides many services along with Aadhaar, one of which is a facility that shows whether your Aadhaar is real or fake. The 12 digit Personal Identification Number issued by UIDAI can be obtained from the residents of the country on the basis of their biometric and demographic data. This is the facility through online portal, you can check whether your Aadhar card number is genuine or not. Residents often use this service to verify the identity of their workers. According to UIDAI, one can verify the email address and mobile number which is mentioned at the time of enrollment or during new Aadhaar update. A registered mobile number is required to avail Aadhaar online services. In case the mobile number is not registered with Aadhaar, users will have to visit the nearest Permanent Aadhaar Center (PAC).

How to know whether your Aadhaar is real or fake

Step 1: Visit the official Aadhaar website – resident.uidai.gov.in and select ‘Aadhaar Verification’ services.

Step 2: Enter the Aadhaar number or Virtual ID (VID).

Step 3: Enter the given captcha and click on send OTP or enter TOTP.

Step 4: OTP will be sent to the mobile number registered for the given Aadhar number or VID.

Step 5: If Aadhar number is correct then a new page will open with details like Name, State, Age, Gender etc along with Aadhar number.

Step 6: The registered mobile number can be linked with Aadhaar by getting the email address or date of birth verified at the nearest Permanent Aadhaar Center (PAC).
