Aadhaar head of family service: Aadhaar users can make online correction in the address entered in Aadhaar through Head Of Family service.
New Delhi: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched a new facility for citizens. Through this, with the consent of the head of the Aadhaar user household, it will be helpful to make corrections in the address registered in Aadhaar online. This facility of Aadhaar will help such relatives like children, spouse, parents etc. who do not have documents in their name.
Head of Family service has been started for Aadhaar card holders to update other information including change of address online. With this, the Aadhaar holders do not have other documents, they will get convenience in verification. Head of family service can be availed by submitting documents related to proof of relationship like ration card, mark sheet, marriage certificate, passport etc. But it is necessary that the name of the applicant and the head of the family and the relationship between them should be mentioned in it.
This facility has been started within the country for various reasons for people shifting to cities and towns for work or any other reason. This option will be in addition to the facility of correction of existing address using any valid address proof prescribed by UIDAI. Any resident above the age of 18 years can be a Head of Family for this purpose and can share his address with his relatives through this process.
While making online correction in address through ‘My Aadhaar’ portal (https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in), the Head of Family option has to be selected. The resident will then be allowed to enter the Aadhaar number of the Head of Family (HOF), which only needs to be confirmed. No other information of HOF Aadhaar will be displayed on the screen to maintain adequate confidentiality of the HOF.
After the successful verification of the Aadhaar number of the HOF, the citizen will be required to upload the documents related to the proof of relationship. A fee of Rs 50 has to be paid for this service. On successful payment a Service Request Number (SRN) will be shared with the citizen and an SMS linked to the address request will be sent to the HOF. The HOF will have to give its consent within 30 days from the date of receipt of the intimation by logging into the My Aadhaar portal and thereafter any action will be taken on the request.
It is to be noted that if the HOF refuses to share its address or does not accept or deny the same within 30 days from the date of issue of SRN, the request will be closed. The citizen trying to update the address through this option will be informed about the closure of the request through an SMS. If the request is closed or rejected due to non-approval of the HOF, the amount will not be refunded to the applicant.
