How to lock Aadhar card
To lock the Aadhar card, first you have to send a GETOTP message to 1947 from your Aadhar linked mobile number. After sending the message, an OTP will come to your mobile number. You have to send this OTP to 1947 again by typing ‘LOCKUID Aadhaar Number’. In this way your Aadhar card will be locked.
How to unlock
If you want to re-unlock your locked Aadhar card, then for this you have to send GETOTP SMS to 1947 from your mobile number. After sending the message an OTP will come on the mobile number. You have to write ‘UNLOCKUID AADHAAR NUMBER’ and OTP and send it to 1947. In this way your Aadhar card will be unlocked.
Lock online
First of all click on UIDAI website uidai.gov.in. Scroll down the webpage and click on Lock/Unlock biometric under Aadhaar Paperless Offline E-KYC in the Aadhaar Service column. A new page will open in front of you. Scroll down this page and click on Confirm. Below that, click on Lock/Unlock Biometrics.
Now the page with the captcha code will open. Here you have to enter the 12 digit Aadhaar number. Enter the captcha code and click on Send OTP. OTP will come on your registered mobile number. Enter this OTP in the page and click on submit. In this way your Aadhar card will be locked.
