AADHAAR UPDATE: The government has amended the Aadhaar Act and has allowed private companies to also provide Aadhaar authentication facility. Now services like hospitality, health, e-commerce, education, credit rating will become easier through Aadhaar verification.

AADHAAR UPDATE: The central government has made a big change regarding Aadhaar card verification. The government has allowed private companies to add Aadhaar-based face authentication to mobile apps. This will make it easier for common people to avail the services.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has also launched a new portal named (swik.meity.gov.in) for this. Its purpose is to provide Aadhaar verification facility to government and non-government organizations, so that people can get more convenient services. Through this portal, any eligible institution can apply for Aadhaar verification and after getting approval, can add it to its services.

Let us tell you that Aadhaar is a unique identification number issued by the Government of India, which is made for Indian residents. According to the Supreme Court’s decision, the use of Aadhaar is voluntary, but it has been made mandatory for some government schemes and tax related services. UIDAI has introduced methods like face authentication and OTP for Aadhaar verification.

What is the new rule

The government has amended the Aadhaar Act and has allowed private companies to also provide Aadhaar authentication facility. Earlier only government departments could use it. After this amendment notified on 31 January 2025, now services like hospitality, health, e-commerce, education, credit rating will become easier through Aadhaar verification.

How will you get benefit?

1. With its arrival, customers will not need to submit documents again and again for e-KYC, exam registration and other services

2. Companies will be able to easily record employee attendance, identify and verify customers.

3. This will enable services to be availed through face verification anytime and anywhere.

Option to lock and unlock biometric data

UIDAI has issued Virtual ID (VID) along with Aadhaar card, which can be used for identity verification without sharing the Aadhaar number. UIDAI has also given Aadhaar holders the facility to lock and unlock their biometric data, which increases security.
