The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the issuing body of Aadhaar, is all set to provide home service to the cardholders. With this facility, people will be able to change their phone number, address, name, biometric and other details in their Aadhar card sitting at home.
With the launch of the doorstep facility, Aadhaar card holders will no longer need to visit the Aadhaar Seva Kendra. At present, UIDAI gives an option to cardholders to change their details like address online. One has to visit the Aadhaar Seva Kendra for changes like phone number update or biometric details.
Training of 48,000 Postmen
To make the Aadhaar update process simple and easy, UIDAI is training around 48,000 postmen working in India Post Payment Bank. After the completion of the training, they will provide service to the citizens sitting at home. A total of 1.5 lakh postmen are expected to be trained in two different phases.
Postmen will be equipped with digital gadgets
According to media reports, the postmen will also help in making new Aadhar cards. They will be equipped with digital gadgets. UIDAI is aiming to open Aadhaar Seva Kendras in each of the 755 districts of the country. Presently there are 88 UIDAI Seva Kendras in 72 cities.
Sometimes change can’t happen
Any change in Aadhar card happens only a few times. After that you cannot change it. In the year 2019, UIDAI had put a limit on the change of name, date of birth and gender. For this you also have to pay a small charge. For example, for biometric update, you will have to pay Rs 100, for demographic update Rs 50 and for downloading Aadhaar in color, you will have to pay Rs 30.
