till now there was a need to have a residential proof to update the address in the Aadhaar card. But now if you do not have any such proof, you can update the address in the Aadhaar card with the help of ‘Aadhaar Card Verifier’. Aadhaar Card Verifier will be any member of your family, friend or landlord who will allow you to use the address given in your Aadhaar card as proof. After that the address will be updated in your Aadhar card.
Process of changing address in Aadhaar Card
>> The first thing to change the address is to apply for the address validation letter. For this, go to https://resident.uidai.gov.in and select the “Request Aadhaar Validation Letter” given in the Aadhaar Update Section.
>> This will open the Self Service Update Port (SSUP).
>> Now you have to login through your 12 digit Aadhaar number. Then the Verifier’s Aadhaar number will have to be submitted and submitted.
>> Now to approve the verifier, a link will be received via SMS on their registered mobile number. By clicking on this link, they will get another SMS, in which OTP will come.
>> Verifier will have to verify by inserting OTP, and captcha. After this you will get a Service Request Number (SRN) via SMS.
>> Now you have to login through SRN and check the address once. When the address is correct, click on Submit.
>> After submitting you will get a letter. Apart from this, a ‘Secret Code’ will be sent to the Verifier with an ‘Address Validation Letter’ via post.
>> After that you will have to go to the UIDAI website again and click on ‘Proceed to Update Address’.
>> Login through your Aadhaar card and choose the option of Update Address via Secret Code.
>> After entering ‘secret code’, check the new address and click on Submit. Now note down the ‘Update Request Number’ (URN) on the screen.
