New Delhi: Aadhaar card, which is used as the main document in more than 1100 central and state level schemes, is also the main document of citizen identity. In such a situation, it is very important to have the details present in the Aadhaar card accurate. If this does not happen, many types of work including financial transactions of the Aadhaar user can stop.
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has started a free service to keep all the details correct in Aadhaar and to keep Aadhaar updated. Through this service, Aadhaar users can update or add any of their details without any charges.
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI Updates) asks Aadhaar users to verify and update their Aadhaar information from time to time. In the past months, the authority had also issued verification instructions in relation to those people, whose Aadhaar has been made for 10 years. To give relief to such users, the authority has removed the fee applicable for updating Aadhaar details and made Aadhaar service free.
To help the citizens, the Aadhaar Authority had issued a directive on 15 March 2023 to make the online update service of documents in Aadhaar free of cost for a few months. According to the authority, earlier Aadhaar users had till June 14, 2023 but by extending it, they can update their details till September 14, 2023 without paying any fee. The benefit of the free service will be available through online mode only, while a prescribed fee of Rs 50 will have to be paid for updating details offline.
