New Delhi.The Election Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2021, introduced in the Parliament by the Central Government, has been passed in the Lok Sabha. However, opposition parties including Congress, BSP have opposed the bill.
There is a provision to link Aadhaar with voter card in the bill (Aadhaar-Voter Card linking). Once the law is made, the officers preparing the voter list will have the right to ask for the Aadhar card. However, right now in this bill, giving the number of Aadhar card has been kept optional, that is, it will not be mandatory now.
The Modi government says that complaints of casting fake votes in elections have increased a lot. Linking Aadhaar with Voter ID will help prevent bogus voting. - First of all go to https://voteportal.eci.gov.in.
- After this login with Mobile no / email / Voter ID No and Password.
- After this, give your personal information including state, district.
- After giving all the information, click on the Search button. If the information is matched with the government data, then a new detail will open in front of you.
- Now you have to click on feed aadhaar number here.
- Here write the rest of the information along with Aadhaar.
- After checking all the information, press the submit button.
- It will come on the screen that your registration was successful.
Link can be done through SMS
To link Aadhar Card and Voter ID Card, send <Voter ID No> and <Aadhaar Number> to 166 or 51969 via SMS.

One can also link Voter ID and Aadhar card through a phone call. For this, you have to call 1950 between 10 am to 5 pm from Monday to Friday.
