Important meeting of Election Commission
Let us tell you that the Election Commission of India (ECI) held an important meeting on Voter ID (EPIC) and Aadhaar linking on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Apart from Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, Union Home Secretary, Secretary of Legislative Department, Secretary of MeitY, CEO of UIDAI and technical expert of ECI participated in it.
The Election Commission said that the work of linking voter card with Aadhaar will be done as per the existing law and the instructions of the Supreme Court.
Aadhaar-EPIC linking will be within the constitutional ambit
The Election Commission made it clear that this process will be done completely under the provisions of Article 326 of the Constitution and the Representation of the People Act, 1950. Citing the Supreme Court’s decision, the Commission reiterated that Aadhaar card is not a proof of citizenship, but only a proof of identity. There will soon be a detailed discussion on this issue between technical experts of UIDAI and ECI, so that the electoral process can be made more secure and transparent.

How to link voter ID card with Aadhaar card?
If you want to link your voter ID card with Aadhaar card, you can visit an Aadhaar Enrollment Center. This task can be done offline at your nearest Aadhaar center for a nominal fee.
How to link voter ID card with Aadhaar through SMS?
- Type the Aadhaar number after the voter ID number followed by a space and send an SMS to 166 or 51969.
- Now the process of linking your Aadhaar and Voter ID will begin.
- Proceed by providing information about the option asked for.
- In this way, the voter ID will be linked to Aadhaar through SMS.
- Apart from this, you can link Aadhaar with voter ID by calling 1950 helpline.
How to link voter ID card with Aadhaar through Voter Helpline App?
- First of all, Android phone users should download the Voter Helpline App from the Google Play Store.
- Now open the app and click on I Agree for the terms and conditions.
- Now click on Next and select the Voter Registration option.
- Now find and open the Electoral Authentication Form (Form 6B).
- Now click on Let’s Start.
- Now enter the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar card.
- Now you will receive an OTP on your phone, enter it and verify.
- Click on Yes, I Have Voter ID and tap on Next.
- Now select Voter ID number (EPIC), state and click on Fetch Details.
- Now click on Proceed.
- Now after providing Aadhaar number, mobile number, location information, click on Done.
- Review the Form 6B page and check and verify all the details.
- After this, confirm and submit the form.
How to link voter ID card with Aadhaar card?
- First of all, go to the National Voter Service Portal website https://voters.eci.gov.in/.
- Go to the Search in Electoral Roll option on the homepage.
- Enter personal information including Aadhaar number, state, district and click on the search button.
- After filling the information, an OTP will be sent to the mobile number or email.
- Enter the OTP. Now your voter ID will be linked with Aadhaar card.
