Aadhaar Card is one of the most important documents due to its relevance in availing a range of banking, financial and government services for every citizen of India. The Aadhaar card is available to both Indian nationals and non-resident Indians (NRIs).
Previously, NRIs had to wait for a duration of time, however, this is no longer the case. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman proposed in May 2020 that NRIs with Indian passports be given Aadhaar cards immediately upon arriving in India, eliminating the usual waiting time.
The UIDAI also posted a tweet on the subject back on August 25, 2021, informing citizens that they do not need to wait 182 days. NRIs who have a valid Indian passport can apply for Aadhaar Card straight away, upon their arrival in India.

Here is the Aadhaar Registration procedure for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs):
Step 1: Once landed in India, go to an Aadhaar enrolment centre near you with your valid Indian passport.
Step 2: Fill out the information on the enrolment form provided by the Aadhaar enrolment officer.
Step 3: Make sure you fill out the NRI enrolment declaration, which is a little different than the regular process. Read the same in your enrolment form and sign it.
Step 4: Request that the operator enrol you as an NRI.
Step 5: Give your passport to the UIDAI official in charge of the process as proof of identity. You can use your passport as proof of address and date of birth, or you can provide another legal document. In general, you can use the passport everywhere.
Step 6: Get the biometric capture and retina scan procedures done.
Step 7: Your picture will be taken and printed on the spot. Complete the photograph submission process.
Step 8: Before the UIDAI Associate submits your application, double-check all of the information on the screen (in both English and the local language).
Step 9: Gather your acknowledgement slip/enrolment slip, which contains your 14-digit Enrolment ID as well as the Date and Time Stamp.
You will have to wait the standard 90 days for the development and dispatch of an Aadhaar card, as this is the stipulated time it takes. Your enrolment number, which was supplied by the enrolment centre, can be used to track your progress online.
