Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojna, launched by the Ministry of Labor to provide relief to the people who lost their jobs during the Corona Pandemic, is proving to be very beneficial. This scheme, which provides 50 percent of the salary for three months to the unemployed people, was recently extended till June 2022, but now another major change has been made in it. Due to which not only the conditions of application have been reduced but the number of beneficiaries will also increase.

According to the information received from Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), since the year 2020 till now, about 80 thousand people have applied under this scheme and ESIC has provided about 80 crore rupees as unemployment allowance to these people. . The special thing is that despite the passing of the second wave of corona and the cases of corona decreasing and the conditions becoming normal, so far applications are coming under it from all over the country.

Regarding the changes being made in ABVKY, MK Sharma, Insurance Commissioner, Revenue and Benefits, Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) says that under this scheme, 50 percent of the salary is given for a maximum period of three months. Three months is the time when any unemployed person can find a new job for himself. Meanwhile, if someone gets a job and his contribution to ESIC starts coming in, then this amount is stopped before three months. However, if he goes to the job again, he can take advantage of the remaining installments.

Sharma says that a major change has now been made in this plan. Which has been allowed in principle, although a formal notification is yet to be made regarding this. Under this, now the applicant can be given the benefit of the scheme even after one year of registration and one contribution period, whereas till now two years of registration and two contribution period in ESIC could be applied for. Now the conditions of the scheme have been simplified more than before. ESIC has a contribution period of six months in which the contribution should be at least 78 days. However, now due to the benefit of one contribution period, many people coming under its purview will be able to apply.
