Nainital, Ramesh Chandra : Now the meteorological department of Uttarakhand will also be able to give accurate forecast of cloudburst, storm or rain. The department will come to know about these incidents three hours in advance. For this, the first doppler radar of the state has been established at Mukteswar in Nainital district. This radar will start working before the end of July as soon as testing is done.
Doppler radar equipped with state-of-the-art technology has been installed at the Institute of Temperate Horticulture in Mukteswar. The specialty of this radar is that we will get information even before the events like cloud burst. Due to strong winds with rain, storm or storm, getting information even before reaching here will definitely make it easier to take precaution.
State Meteorological Director Dr. Vikram Singh informed that the final testing of radar is to be done. The radar installation work is done by Hyderabad-based company Astra Microweb. This radar was in dire need in the Himalayan region in terms of weather information.
Will give information of 100 km in 360 degree angle
The distance of Mukteswar from Nainital city is 51 km. This beautiful tourist place is situated at an elevation of 2286 meters above sea level. The radar installed here will operate at a 360 degree angle within a radius of 100 km. It will be able to monitor the weather in all four directions including Himalayas. Important information about wind speed and direction, temperature and humidity will continue.
Radar is made at a cost of ten crores
The Doppler radar has cost about ten crores to install. Which includes the cost of building etc. including state-of-the-art equipment. As soon as the testing is complete, data will start being received from the radar.

Radar will be the first in the state
This is the first radar of the state. Apart from this, one Doppler radar is to be set up in Pauri and Tehri districts of Garhwal division. With the establishment of radar in Mukteshwar, the weather information of the Kumaon region will be started.
Three teams will conduct testing
It will take three teams to test the radar. Experts of the Central Meteorological Department, Meteorological Department Dehradun and experts from the working organization Astra Hyderabad will be included. Testing will run in the second fortnight of July.
