UCC was implemented in Uttarakhand on 27 January
Let us tell you that UCC was implemented in Uttarakhand on 27 January. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami launched the UCC (Uniform Civil Code) portal and rules. He had told that by implementing UCC in Uttarakhand, we are paying tribute to the Constitution maker Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar.
The Uttarakhand government discussed a lot of things for UCC. Scheduled tribes have been exempted in UCC. According to this, UCC will be applicable to the residents of Uttarakhand and the states living outside it. However, Scheduled Tribes have been exempted. A rule has also been made regarding marriage registration in this. Marriages that took place between 26 March 2010 and the date of implementation of UCC will have to be registered in the next six months. Also, after the implementation of UCC, 60 days will be given to register the marriage.
What is UCC?
Uniform Civil Code means one country and one law. In any country where Uniform Civil Code is implemented, whatever laws are made in that country regarding marriage, divorce, child adoption, property division and all other subjects, citizens of all religions have to follow them equally. UCC was already implemented in Goa. Recently Uttarakhand has implemented UCC and now Gujarat is also preparing to implement it.
