Flights will remain closed till May 15
The Tata group airline shared the latest update about its flights to Tel Aviv on Tuesday through its official X handle. The company said that in view of the situation prevailing in West Asia, it has been decided to extend the suspension of flights to and from Tel Aviv. These flights are now going to be suspended till May 15, 2024.
This is why tension has increased
Tel Aviv is the capital of Israel. Last month, the tension between Iran and Israel, two major and powerful countries of West Asia, reached its peak. Earlier Iran had attacked Israel with drones and missiles. Later there were reports that Israel had also attacked Iran with drones in retaliation. Although the tension has not increased since then, the situation has still not returned to normal.
Flights are closed since last month
After increasing tension between the two countries, Indian airline Air India had decided to suspend its flights to Tel Aviv. After increasing tension, the company had told on April 19 that its flights to the Israeli capital would remain suspended till April 30. Now the suspension has been extended till May 15.
Started after 5 months in March
Air India had restarted flights to Israel in March itself after about 5 months. Before that, flights were canceled in October after Hamas attacks on many Israeli cities. These flights of Air India were closed for the next 5 months from 7 October 2023. After that the company restarted flights from March 3, which are closed once again.
