Air India-Vistara Merger: Airline company Air India is introducing a revised policy for the crew members (cabin crew) of domestic and international flights. A source said that under this, members of some categories will have to share rooms during rest. The revised policy will not apply to Air India Express, which has merged with AIX Connect.

Employees’ allowance increased

The source said that the allowance of cabin crew of international flights will be increased from $ 75-125 to $ 85-135. There has been no change in the allowance of cabin crew of domestic flights.

An airline spokesperson said that with the completion of the formalities of the merger of Air India and Vistara, there is a need to harmonize these policies for the employees of both the organizations.

Information given to employees

The spokesperson said, “Under this, we have informed about the changes applicable to Air India employees. The revised salary and benefits will remain competitive and will be in line with industry standards.”

The source said that under the revised policy, cabin crew members, except managers and officers, will have to share rooms during rest during the flight. Flight managers and officers are usually senior people with at least eight-nine years of experience.

Room will have to be shared

Air India Express and Vistara already have a room sharing system for cabin crew. However, this will be the first time such a system will be introduced in the loss-making Air India owned by the Tata Group.

This change in policy has been made amid a section of cabin crew members of Air India Express demanding a solution to their human resource issues under labor law. The matter is pending before the Central Labor Commissioner.

Merger plan will be completed next month

Meanwhile, an Air India spokesperson said that the airline had introduced a performance-based compensation and benefits policy for all employees in April 2023. The merger of AEX Connect with Air India Express was completed on October 1, while the integration of Vistara with Air India will be completed next month.
