Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), which operates the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in the national capital, has proposed different user charges for economy and business class categories and for busy and other hours.

YPP will increase from the current Rs 145 to Rs 370

About 10.9 crore passengers travel through this airport annually. DIAL Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Videh Kumar Jaipuriar said that after the approval of the higher fee, the Per Passenger Realization (YPP) will increase from the current Rs 145 to Rs 370. YPP includes airline and passenger fees. The proposed increase is about 140 percent compared to the 2006 level, when the GMR Group-led consortium DIAL took over the airport.

30 percent of Rs 370 should be airline charges

Jaipuriyar said in a conversation with the media, ‘As suggested by AERA, about 30 percent of Rs 370 should be for airline charges and 70 percent for passenger charges. Right now it is 68 percent airline fee and 32 percent passenger fee. He said that with the higher fee, the average maximum increase on domestic fares will be 1.5 to two percent and this increase in international fares will be less than one percent.

Consultation is going on regarding the fee proposal submitted to the Airport Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA). This proposal is for the period from April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2029. At present, the User Development Fee (UDF) is around Rs 77 per passenger.
