Akasa airline said that from November it will be allowed to carry pets during the journey. The booking in this regard will start from October 15. Each pet has to be in a cage. The weight limit including cage will be seven kg in cabin and 32 kg at check-in.



New Delhi. Akasa airline, which started flights about two months ago, will allow its passengers to carry pet dogs and cats on air travel from November. The company’s CEO Vinay Dubey said that the performance of the company Akasa Airline has been satisfactory in the first 60 days of its launch.

Belson Coutinho, co-founder and experience officer of Akasa airline, said that from November, pets will be allowed to travel with them. The booking in this regard will start from October 15. Each pet has to be in a cage. He said the weight limit including cage would be seven kilograms in the cabin and 32 kilograms at check-in. He further explained that there would be another option for heavy pets.

Plans to start international services
Let us tell you, Akasa airline also plans to start international services in the second half of 2023. These services will be started after the company has 20 aircraft. Vinay Dubey, CEO, Akasa Airline said, the company is looking for new investors. We are very happy and satisfied with our performance. Further he also said that the airline is running as per the plan. The company is currently flying 30 flights daily. He told that services will start from Delhi from Friday i.e. 7 October.

Preparing to increase fleet size
Let us tell you that the company started operations in August this year and it also plans to start international operations in the second half of next year. The company currently has six aircraft and is set to increase the fleet size to a total of 18 aircraft by the end of the current financial year. At the same time, Akasa airline has ordered 72 Boeing-737 MAX aircraft. After this, the company will soon allow its passengers to take pets such as dogs, cats with them.

There is no change in strategy
At the same time, when asked whether there has been any change in the strategy of the company after the death of Akasa’s key investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, Dubey said that it is not so, there is no change in strategy, the airline is well capitalized. He said that in terms of moral, emotional support, it is a very deep loss. Apart from this, talking about the Government’s Emergency Credit Facility Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS), the chief of Akasa Air said that it is commendable that the government recognizes the importance of the aviation sector. He said that, we hope that the support of the government should also be given to the airline startups.
