New Delhi: Aakash Air , an airline backed by veteran investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, has finally started booking for its flights. The company said on Friday that it is starting its first commercial flight on August 7 . This first flight will be in a Boeing 737 Max plane and the route will be Mumbai-Ahmedabad. Today the company issued a statement saying that it has started booking tickets for 28 flights from today. These 28 flights will fly on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route on a weekly basis from August 7. At the same time, 28 flights will also run on the Bangalore-Kochi route from August 13.
Flight operations include two Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, of which one has already been delivered and the other will be delivered by the end of this month.
Praveen Iyer, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer, Aakash Air, said, “We are starting operations with flights between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.” Will be added In the first year, we will induct two planes every month in our fleet.
Akash Air got the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on 7 July.
Let us tell you that in November last year, Akash Air had entered into a deal with Boeing to buy 72 MAX aircraft. For this, the company had taken approval for this from DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) in August.
