After this, Sage Kashyap drained its water into many rivers. During that time, when Sage Bhrigu left from there to travel to the Himalayas, the water level in the valley decreased and he first saw the ice Shivling seated in the holy cave of Amarnath Yatra. Since then, this holy place became a place of worship and pilgrimage of Lord Shiva. It is believed that Lord of Gods Mahadev had performed penance here.
