New Delhi, Tech Desk. Amazon has laid off 50,000 seasonal jobs in lockdown with the intention of streamlining its delivery network. These jobs will be contract based (regional roles) for fullfillment centers and delivery network. Those wishing to apply for these seasonal occasions can call 1800-208-9900 or email seasonalhiringindia@amazon.com. These associates will connect with thousands of associates of Amazon India’s fullfillment and delivery network and help them to collect, pack, ship and deliver orders with greater efficiency to customers.

Akhil Saxena, Vice President, Customer Fulfillment said that one thing we have learned from the Kovid-19 epidemic is how important Amazon and ecommerce can play for their customers, small businesses and the country. We have taken this responsibility seriously and we are proud of the work that our team is doing to help small and other businesses reach our customers during this difficult time. We want to continue helping customers across India get everything they need, so that they continue to follow social distance. For this, we are creating work opportunities for about 50,000 seasonal associates in our fullfillment and delivery network. This will provide a large number of people during the epidemic and also provide a safe working environment.

Creating these opportunities, Amazon is committed to the health and safety of its associates, partners, employees and customers and has implemented several measures for their welfare. The company has made about 100 significant changes in its operational process to protect its people. These include mandating face covering, daily temperature checks in buildings, increasing cleanliness at all sites, regular sanitization of frequently touched areas, and hand washing and hand sanitization.
