The nomination papers of Amit Jogi and State President of Janta Congress Chhattisgarh and his wife Richa Jogi, candidates in Marwahi Assembly by-election, have been rejected by Collector cum District Election Officer Doman Singh. Objection was lodged by Congress candidate Dr. KK Dhruv and National Gondwana Ganatantra Party candidate Urmila Marco regarding caste certificate of both.
On Saturday morning, there was a lot of buzz in the Gourela district headquarters campus. Saturday was the time for scrutiny of nomination papers. The lawyers said that on October 15, a state-level investigation committee has ordered the cancellation of the Scheduled Tribe certificate of Amit, son of the first Chief Minister of the state, Ajit Jogi. Hence the nomination should be canceled. The debate on the validity of the nomination papers took place in the Collector Court for almost two hours on both sides. After hearing the arguments of both the parties, Amit’s nomination was rejected by the Collector.
On the validity of Richa Jogi’s nomination letter, Amit Jogi sought two days to present the document, but the lawyers said that the district level investigation committee said that the certificate was declared void with the suspension of Richa’s certificate. Has been done and the applicant will not get any kind of benefit. Expressing disappointment over the decision, Amit said that Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel wants to win by wrestling alone. The Collector has taken this decision at the behest of the Chief Minister.
