Washington, ANI. Air India has decided to operate additional commercial flights under the second phase of the Vande Bharat Mission. According to the Indian embassy, 11 flights will be operated from May 28 to June 15 as part of the second phase to evacuate Indians stranded in various parts of the US.
Four of the 11 flights will operate from Chicago, two each from San Francisco, Washington DC and New York, and one from Newark.
The embassy has said that Indian citizens and OCI card holders will be given priority due to the limited number of seats on the plane. Meanwhile, the embassy has started planning the third phase of the Vande Bharat Mission. It will begin operations in the US from June 15. India started the biggest campaign to evacuate Indians trapped abroad due to Corona.
The second phase of the campaign started from 16 May and lasted till 25 May. During this time more than 30,000 people from different countries returned to India.
