Due to the European Union’s USB-C port rule, Apple has stopped the sale of 3 models including iPhone 14. The company is removing stock from online and offline stores of these countries.
Apple has stopped the sale of its 3 iPhone models in the countries of the European Union. The company has removed the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone SE 3rd Generation from its online store in most countries of Europe. Now these will not be available for sale in offline stores as well. The company has been forced to take this step due to a rule of the European Union (EU). Under this rule, the sale of devices with Lightning connector is banned.
What is the new rule of EU?
In 2022, the EU had decided that phones and some other gadgets sold in all its 27 countries would be required to have USB-C port. This decision was taken to reduce electronic waste. However, Apple challenged this decision, but later it backed down. Since the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone SE 3rd generation do not have a USB-C port for charging, their sale is being stopped.
Apple has been engaged in removing stock since last week
Apple has been engaged in removing its old stock since last week. So far it has removed these products from its stores in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Sweden and many other countries. The sale of these three iPhones has also stopped in Switzerland. Although Switzerland is not a part of Europe, many of its laws are similar to the EU. Similarly, these phones will no longer be able to be purchased in Northern Ireland.
Apple will launch iPhone SE with USB-C port
It is being speculated that Apple may launch the iPhone SE 4th generation equipped with USB-C port in March next year. In such a situation, this iPhone can soon make a comeback in Europe and people will not have to wait long for it.
