The Bombay High Court on Monday dismissed his interim bail plea in the case of provoking interior designer to suicide in 2018, giving a shock setback to Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami. In its decision, the High Court said that Arnab can go to the Sessions Court, if he wishes, challenging this order in the next four days. Earlier, the Bombay High Court had reserved its verdict after hearing on bail plea of ​​Republic TV chief editor Arnab Goswami on Saturday. Later on Monday, during the hearing of his plea, Justice SS Shinde and Justice MS Karnik refused to grant bail to Republic TV chief Arnab Goswami.
The High Court also clarified that the accused (Goswami) can go to the lower court for this and the concerned court will hear their application within the time limit. Goswami was arrested by the Maharashtra Police on November 4 from his residence. This is the case in 2018, in which an interior designer Anvay Naik committed suicide after Goswami was not paid the dues. Arnab was sent to 14 days judicial custody by the local court in this case.
The High Court also said that if the accused goes to the Court of Sessions under Section 439 of the Criminal Penal Code, it will not be taken as an impediment. In a tweet, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Phannavis has said that the High Court should take suo motu cognizance of the treatment of Arnab in custody. Goswami has alleged that he has been beaten and detained in custody.

Apart from Arnab, two other accused, Feroze Shaikh and Nitesh Sarda (Nitish Sarda), were also arrested in this case. Arnab had sought interim bail and challenged the arrest, terming it illegal. In its application, the Mumbai police had requested the sessions court to quash the trial court order and send the three accused to their custody.
