Arvind Kejriwal Bail: The Supreme Court today gave its verdict on Arvind Kejriwal’s petition against ED’s arrest. Stay with us for every update related to this

Arvind Kejriwal Bail: Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has been granted interim bail by the Supreme Court in the Delhi liquor policy case. His petition challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has been referred to a larger bench by the Supreme Court. A bench headed by Justice Sanjeev Khanna pronounced the verdict. The decision on Kejriwal’s petition was reserved on May 17.

What did the high court say

On April 15, the Supreme Court had sought a response from the ED on Arvind Kejriwal’s petition challenging his arrest in the money laundering case. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor challenged the Delhi High Court’s April 9 order in the apex court. The High Court had upheld Kejriwal’s arrest in the case and said that there was no illegality in it. After his repeated refusal to join the investigation, the ED was left with no option. He was arrested by the ED on March 21.

The lower court had granted bail

A lower court had granted bail to Arvind Kejriwal on June 20 in the case on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh. After this, the ED had moved the Delhi High Court the next day. It was argued that the lower court’s order granting bail to Kejriwal was one-sided and wrong. Kejriwal was also arrested by the CBI on June 26 in a corruption case related to the alleged liquor policy scam.
