New Delhi: The total enrollment in the Atal Pension Yojana has crossed 2.4 crore. More than 17 lakh Atal Pension Yojana accounts have been opened in the financial year 2020-21. The Atal Pension Yojana (Atal Pension Yojana) was launched by the Government of India, which is managed by the PFRDA. Under this scheme, any Indian citizen from 18 to 40 years can open an account. An account can be opened in this scheme from the bank branch or post office of the customer.
Under this scheme, the subscriber receives a guaranteed pension of minimum Rs 1000 to Rs five thousand per month from the age of 60 on the basis of his contribution. In the event of death of the subscriber, his / her spouse gets this pension. In case of neither, pension amount is provided to the nominee.
More than 17 lakh APY accounts have been opened through 260 APY service providers during FY 2020-21. Thus, by 20 August 2020, the number of subscribers of the Atal Pension Yojana has crossed 24 million. Talking about the public sector category in the current financial year, SBI has opened the highest number of Atal Pension accounts so far. Whereas Axis Bank in private sector, Arytel Payments Bank in RRB and Airtel Payment Bank in Payment Banks have opened the maximum accounts.
As of 20 August 2020, out of the total subscriber base of the scheme, about 73.38 per cent subscribers have opted for the Rs 1,000 pension plan, 16.93 per cent have opted for the Rs 5,000 pension plan. Of the total subscribers, 43.52 per cent are female subscribers and 56.45 per cent are male subscribers. At the same time, 52.55 percent of the subscribers are aged between 21 and 30 years.
