Auto/Taxi Base Fare: A big news is coming out for the people living in Mumbai. For people living in Mumbai, now traveling in autos and taxis can be costly. The increased prices in auto and taxi fares will be applicable on October 1, i.e. a few days later. After the implementation of the new rates, the minimum charge for black-and-yellow taxis plying in and around Mumbai will be Rs 28 and that of auto rickshaws will be Rs 23. Let us inform that the base fare of auto and taxi has been increased by Rs 2 and Rs 3 respectively by the government. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Transport Authority (MMRTA) has decided to make the hiked price effective from October 1.
Will pay so much for 1.5 km
The minimum fare has been increased from Rs 25 to Rs 28 for a 1.5 km trip in a black-yellow taxi. At the same time, the base fare in auto rickshaws has been increased from Rs 21 to Rs 23. Apart from this, in the order issued by the government, it has been said that in addition to this minimum base fare, now Mumbaikars will have to pay Rs 18.66 per km in taxi instead of Rs 16.93.
At the same time, the rate per kilometer for auto rickshaw has been increased from Rs 14.20 to Rs 15.33. Let us inform that this decision was taken on Monday in the meeting of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Transport Authority. These new prices will be applicable on taxis and autos running on both petrol and CNG.
Rates hiked after CNG price hike
In the order issued by the government, it has been said that the increase in the prices of autos and taxis happened because on March 1, 2021, the price of CNG had increased from Rs 49.40 to Rs 80 per kilometer. Apart from this, due to other factors including inflation, the prices of autos and taxis have also been increased.
Price of ‘cool’ taxi also increased
Apart from auto and taxi, the base price of Blue-Silver Cool Taxi has also been increased. This price has been increased from Rs 33 per km to Rs 40 per km. Apart from this, the fare per km of these cabs has been reduced to Rs 26.71.
