What is Ayushman Yojana
The central government has expanded the Ayushman Bharat scheme and included senior citizens above 70 years of age in it. Under this scheme, people get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh every year. With this decision of the government, more than 6 crore senior citizens of the country will be able to join this scheme. Whether rich or poor, any citizen can join this scheme and avail free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh. If someone in the family is already included in the Ayushman Bharat scheme, then also the elderly above 70 years of age in the family will get health coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh separately.
Who will get Ayushman card
The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the proposal to provide health insurance facility to all people aged 70 years and above under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. Now all the elderly will get the benefit of this scheme, no matter what their income is. About six crore senior citizens will benefit from this. Senior citizens of about 4.5 crore families will benefit from free health insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh.
Which diseases will be treated?
Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, many diseases will be treated free of cost. This insurance covers treatment of 1760 types of diseases including cancer, heart disease, kidney diseases, corona, cataract, dengue, chikungunya, malaria, knee and hip transplantation. Although the government had removed 196 diseases from the list of treatment in private hospitals, free treatment of all these diseases will continue in government hospitals.
How to get Ayushman card
To get Ayushman card, you first have to go to https://pmjay.gov.in/ and check whether you are eligible for it or not. Go to the website and check the option of ‘Am I Eligible’ on the homepage and check your eligibility by following the steps given below. If you are unable to do it on the website, then check your eligibility by calling the toll-free number-14555. If you are eligible, then you have to go to the Common Service Center (CSC) and apply.
Documents for Ayushman Card
To make an Ayushman card, you need documents like Aadhar card, PAN card, driving license, voter ID, government identity card. Take all these documents with you while going to the CSC center. Once you apply, you can track the status of the Ayushman card online and download it and get your free treatment.
