Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the interim budget on 1 February. Everyone including the poor, farmers, middle class have high expectations from this time’s budget. According to media reports, this time the government may increase the insurance cover provided under Ayushman Bharat Health Scheme (PM-JAY) in the budget. At present, a cover of Rs 5 lakh is available under this scheme.
According to media reports, the central government can double this insurance amount in Budget 2024. That means the insurance cover limit of Rs 5 lakh can be directly increased to Rs 10 lakh.
Plan to cover serious diseases
According to the information received from the news agency, a plan is being made to cover cancer and other serious diseases under this insurance, so that people can be helped financially. To cover cancer and other diseases costing more than Rs 5 lakh, the ministry can increase the limit from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh per year.
Number of beneficiaries doubled
According to the information received from the Ministry of Health, the number of beneficiaries under PM Jan Arogya Yojana has doubled to around 100 crores. Along with this, the government is planning to provide benefits of this scheme to many people including beneficiaries of Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, Asha workers.
The scheme was started in 2018
This government scheme was started by the Central Government on 23 September 2018. Under this scheme, every family is given the facility of insurance of Rs 5 lakh every year. The main objective of this scheme is to provide good health facilities to the poor class. There are 49 percent women in this scheme and they have about 14.6 crore Ayushman cards. At the same time, about 48 percent women have availed treatment facilities under the scheme.
6.2 crore people have been enrolled
According to the information received from the ministry, since the beginning of this scheme, about 6.2 crore people have been admitted to the hospital. At the same time, about Rs 74,157 crore has been spent on these people. Apart from this, the ministry claims that about Rs 1.25 crore has been saved under this scheme.
