Now the Odisha government has decided to enroll newborn babies immediately after birth in hospitals to ensure 100% Aadhaar coverage.
Aadhar card is being used as an essential document in India. For this reason, Aadhar cards are made from newborn children to the elderly. In this sequence, now the Odisha government has decided to enroll newborn babies immediately after birth in hospitals to ensure 100% Aadhaar coverage.
The government says that this system is being introduced because the number of Aadhaar enrollments for children in the age group of 0-5 years is less. It will be implemented soon. After which it is expected that the number of Aadhaar enrollment will increase. Bal Aadhaar will be made for these newborn children.
Manoj Mishra, Secretary, Department of Electronics and Information Technology, told PTI that while the child Aadhaar coverage was rolled out across the country earlier, Odisha would be the first state to introduce such a facility in hospitals.
As per the decision
of the government, the enrollment of newborn babies will be done without biometrics. In addition, Bal Aadhar will also have a 12-digit Unique Identification Number issued to adults. The Unique Identification Number of the newborns will be processed on the basis of demographic information and facial photographs, which will also be linked to the Aadhar card of their parents.
Have to update
According to the official, when they turn 5 and then 15, they need to update their biometrics (photograph of fingers, iris and face). There will be no need to re-enroll or register for this. Let us inform that out of 40.36 lakh children in the age group of 0-5 years, around 14.83 lakh children have been enrolled in Odisha so far.
