New Delhi. Reliance Jio has confirmed that it is not launching JioPhone Next at the moment. They have taken a few weeks for the launch. The reason behind the delay is related to the global semiconductor chip shortage, which has affected the automobile, PC and smartphone industry. “This additional time will also help reduce existing industry-wide, global semiconductor chips,” the company says.

Jio is promising that the device will be rolled out before Diwali. It is learned that the company has made “significant progress” towards launching the JioPhone Next. The testing of the phone has started and before the crazy, this phone will be launched in the market.

The JioPhone Next appears to sport a polycarbonate back as well as a pill-shaped camera module at the top centre. The camera module consists of a lens and an LED flash. Apart from this, there is also Jio branding with speaker grill in the back panel. The front panel has thick top and bottom bezels along with the selfie camera.

Jio has announced that the device will come with 4G connectivity. Along with this, the company has announced that it will run a special version of Android. The smartphone will also include Google Assistant, text-to-speech capabilities, language translation, a smart camera with AR filters and more.
The camera app has been co-engineered by Google and Jio, and will come with features like Night Mode, HDR enhancements and Snapchat AR filters. As per the leak, the device will be powered by Unisoc SoC along with 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. But the company has not disclosed it yet.
