New Delhi. The Supreme Court of the country has said in one of its decisions that the post of a bank employee is very reliable and responsible. If an employee makes a mistake in his work, then his job can also be taken away.

A bench of Justice Ajay Rastogi and Justice Abhay S Oka upheld the order of dismissal of a bank clerk during the hearing of a case. The bench said, honesty and integrity are essential conditions for working in a bank. Any irregularity (Irregularity by bank employees) on the part of the person sitting on such post should be dealt with strictly.

Supreme Court hardened
During the hearing, the bench made a strong observation that merely because the employee has retired in the meantime, he cannot be condoned for the malpractices committed in the course of his duty. Considering the nature of the offense committed by the accused, he is not entitled to any exemption. In such cases leniency can never be advised.

This was the whole matter
This case is related to the employee appointed in 1973, who was recruited to the post of clerk-typist in the bank. During his tenure, he committed serious irregularities in the discharge of his duties due to which he was suspended on 7 August 1995. In the charge sheet filed on March 2, 1996, the Investigating Officer found the allegations against him to be true. After this, he was dismissed from service on 6 December 2000. The Supreme Court has also finally upheld his dismissal.
