Bank Holidays: Banks will remain closed for 5 consecutive days on Christmas, Know where the holidays will be held

Bank Holiday Alert: Next week is the week of festivals. Various local and national festivals will be celebrated in many cities from Diwali to Bhai Dooj next week. Therefore banks will be closed for a total of 5 days.



According to the holiday calendar shared by RBI, bank holidays are observed accordingly in different cities across the country. If you have some bank work next week, you are advised to focus on the days on which banks will be closed. However, you can do online transactions which are available 24×7.

Complete List of Bank Holidays : 

1 November: Kannada Rajyotsava/Kut-Bengaluru, Imphal. On this day, banks will remain closed in Bengaluru and Imphal due to local festivals.

November 3: Naraka Chaturdashi – Bangalore. Bank Bangalore will remain closed on this day.

November 4: Diwali Amavasya (Lakshmi Puja) / Deepawali / Kali Puja. Banks will remain closed on this day in many cities like Agartala, Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Belapur, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata. Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Panaji, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Shimla, Srinagar and Thiruvananthapuram. Apart from this, banks across the country will remain closed due to Diwali.

November 5: Diwali (Bali Pratipada) / Vikram Samvant New Year’s Day / Govardhan Puja. Banks will remain closed on this day in Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bengaluru, Dehradun, Gangtok, Jaipur, Kanpur, Lucknow, Mumbai and Nagpur.



Banks will also remain closed in these cities like Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bengaluru, Dehradun, Gangtok, Jaipur, Kanpur, Lucknow, Mumbai and Nagpur for Vikram Samvant New Year Day/Govardhan Puja.

6 November: Bhai Dooj / Chitragupta Jayanti / Lakshmi Puja / Deepawali / Ningol Chakkuba. Banks will remain closed in Gangtok, Imphal, Kanpur, Lucknow and Shimla on this day.

Bank customers should note that banks are closed on public holidays, while some holidays vary from state to state. Notably, the RBI has placed holidays under three brackets- holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act; Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act and Real Time Gross Settlement Leave; and closing bank accounts.
