Amavasya will end on 1 November, due to which there is no yoga for Lakshmi Puja on this day. For this reason Diwali will be celebrated on 31 October.
Who decides the bank holiday?
The country’s central bank i.e. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) decides the bank holiday. Although the weekly holiday of the bank is Sunday and the second-fourth Saturday of the month. Apart from this, banks are also closed due to regional festivals. RBI releases the bank holiday list every month.
When will the bank remain closed this week
According to the bank holiday list released by RBI-
- On the occasion of Diwali on 31 October, banks in Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Itanagar, Kanpur, Jaipur, Kochi, Kohima, Lucknow, Kolkata, New Delhi, Panaji, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla, Thiruvananthapuram will remain closed.
- On November 1, 2024, there is a bank holiday in Agartala, Belapur, Bangalore, Dehradun, Gangtok, Imphal, Jammu, Mumbai, Nagpur, Shillong, Srinagar due to Diwali Amavasya.
- On November 2, there is a holiday in the banks of Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bangalore, Dehradun, Gangtok, Jaipur, Kanpur, Mumbai, Nagpur, Lucknow on the occasion of Diwali or Bali Pratipada.
- On November 3, banks across the country will remain closed due to Bhai Dooj and Sunday.
