On Wednesday, July 17, 2024, there are festivals like Muharram, Ashura, U Tirot Sing Day across the country, due to which banks are closed in all states like West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, New Delhi, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Meghalaya, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Mizoram, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Tripura.

Muharram: It is the first month of the Islamic year i.e. Hijri year. The Hijri year starts from this month. This month is counted among the four holy months of Islam. Allah’s messenger Hazrat Muhammad has called this month the month of Allah. Ashura is called the tenth date of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar.

Tirot Sing Day – Tirot Sing Day is celebrated every year on July 17. The festival is celebrated in honour of Tirot Singh, a Meghalaya freedom fighter who led the struggle against the British in the 1800s. The day is a local public holiday in the Indian state of Meghalaya.
