Bank Holiday 2023: Rajya Sabha MP asked the question – “Has any demand or proposal been made by the Bank Union or IBA i.e. Indian Bank Association regarding 2 holidays in a week for the employees of nationalized banks? Or is there any such plan? Are you planning to implement it?
A big update has come on the issue that has been going on for a long time regarding two holidays for bank employees every week. The government gave major information in this matter in the Rajya Sabha on the first day of the winter session. On behalf of BJP, Rajya Sabha MP Sumitra Balmiki asked the government a question regarding the leave of bank employees.
He asked a question to the government on the floor of Parliament, “Has any demand or proposal been made by the Bank Union or IBA i.e. Indian Bank Association regarding two holidays in a week for the employees of nationalized banks? Or is there any plan to implement such a plan? Are you planning to?

Government’s response
Responding to this issue, Union Minister of State for Finance Bhagwad Karad said that yes, a proposal has been made by IBA regarding leave of employees on Saturday of the month. Following the signing of the Tenth Bipartite Agreement/Seventh Joint Note between the IBA and the Workmen’s Union/Officers’ Association, the Government, in exercise of the powers authorized by Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, vide Notification dated 20.8.2015, The second and fourth Saturday of every month was declared a public holiday.
