Bank Holiday: Banks are going to be closed on Wednesday and Thursday. Public and private sector banks are going to be closed on Wednesday and Thursday, (January 15-16). 

Bank Holiday: However, banks will not be closed simultaneously in all the states of the country. Banks will be closed only in Tamil Nadu. In some states, bank branches remain closed due to local festivals and special occasions.  If you have any important work related to the bank, then plan keeping these holidays in mind.

Banks will be closed on Wednesday, January 15

On Wednesday, January 15, banks will be closed in the state of Tamil Nadu. Thiruvalluvar Day will be celebrated in Tamil Nadu, due to which banks are going to be closed. Otherwise, banks will remain open in all the states.

Banks to remain closed due to Thiruvalluvar Day

Thiruvalluvar Day is celebrated in Tamil Nadu in memory of the great poet and philosopher saint Thiruvalluvar. Thiruvalluvar is known for his famous work Tirukkural, a collection of 1,330 couplets on topics such as ethics, religion, politics, and love. This day is celebrated with special reverence and enthusiasm as part of the Pongal festival. On this occasion his teachings are remembered, which promote universal human values ​​and inspire people to lead a moral and virtuous life.

Online banking services will be available

Customers can use online banking services even during bank holidays. Fund transfer, bill payment and other services can be availed from the bank’s mobile app and website. Cash can also be withdrawn from ATMs if needed.
