Bank Holiday: Today, the new financial year is going to start from 1 April 2025. Like every year, this time too there will be a bank holiday across the country on 1 April. According to the rules of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), on the first day of every financial year, the closing of accounts of banks takes place, due to which banking services remain closed.

However, net banking and digital transaction services will continue to be available. In April, banks are going to be closed for 16 days including weekends and festival holidays. Know here on which days the banks will remain closed in April, so that you can manage your financial planning.

According to the calendar released by RBI, banks will remain closed for several days in different states in April 2025. Some holidays will be national level, while some will be due to state-specific festivals and local events.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) releases a state-specific bank holiday calendar every year, which contains official bank holidays for the whole year. This month, banks will remain closed on festivals like Mahavir Jayanti, Ambedkar Jayanti, Good Friday, Bohag Bihu, Basava Jayanti and Akshaya Tritiya in different states. Apart from this, Babu Jagjivan Ram Jayanti, Sarhul, Tamil New Year, Himachal Day, Vishu, Cheiraoba, Garia Puja, and Parashuram Jayanti are also included.

When will the banks remain closed in April 2025?

  • April 1 (Tuesday) – Banks will remain closed in all states. Financial year closing of banks will take place on this day. There will also be a holiday in Jharkhand due to Sarhul festival.
  • 5 April (Saturday) – Banks will remain closed in Telangana, as Babu Jagjivan Ram Jayanti will be celebrated on this day.
  • 10 April (Thursday) – Banks will remain closed in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Telangana due to Mahavir Jayanti.
  • 14 April (Monday) – Banks will remain closed in Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Chandigarh, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Meghalaya and Himachal Pradesh due to Ambedkar Jayanti and New Year festivals of some states (Vishu, Bihu, Tamil New Year).
  • 15 April (Tuesday) – Banks will remain closed in Assam, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh due to Bengali New Year, Himachal Day and Bohag Bihu.
  • 18 April (Friday) – Banks will remain closed in Tripura, Assam, Rajasthan, Jammu, Himachal Pradesh and Srinagar due to Good Friday.
  • 21 April (Monday) – Banks will remain closed in Tripura. Garia Puja, a tribal festival, will be celebrated on this day.
  • 29 April (Tuesday) – Banks will remain closed in Himachal Pradesh as Lord Parshuram Jayanti will be celebrated on this day.
  • 30 April (Wednesday) – Banks will remain closed in Karnataka as Basava Jayanti and Akshaya Tritiya will be celebrated on this day.
