The beginning of Eid-ul-Fitr depends on the sighting of the moon. It marks the beginning of the month of Shawwal, which is the 10th month in the Islamic (Hijri) calendar. Given that the lunar month usually lasts between 29 and 30 days, Muslims often wait for the Eid date to be confirmed until the evening before Eid arrives.
In which states banks are closed on Thursday on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr?
11 April (Thursday) – Ramzan-Eid (Eid-ul-Fitr) (1st Shawwal): Banks are closed in most of the states of the country. However, banks are closed in most states except Chandigarh, Sikkim, Kerala and Himachal Pradesh.
