Banks in India will remain closed for seven days in the month of September, as per the bank holiday list issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The holidays are based on state-wise, religious celebrations or festivals. Apart from the RBI list, there are six weekends as well which brings up the tally to 12 holidays for banks in September.
As per the weekend offs, banks will remain closed on September 5, 12, 19, 25 and 26.
List of banks holidays according to regions and rituals in September 2021:
1) September 8: Tithi of Srimanta Sankardeva,
2) September 9: Teej (Haritalika),
3) September 10: Ganesh Chaturthi/Samvatsari (Chaturthi Paksha)/Vinayakar Chathurthi/Varasiddhi Vinayaka Vrata,
4) September 11: Ganesh Chaturthi (2nd day),
5) September 17: Karma Puja,
6) September 20: Indrajatra and on
7) September 21: Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi Day
RBI notified holidays for lenders under these categories—the Negotiable Instruments Act, Holiday, Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday, and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.
