Due to Eid and Lord Parshuram Jayanti/Ramadan-Eid/Basava Jayanti/Akshay Tritiya, banks will remain closed for two consecutive days in many cities. Let us tell you that the month of May has started with bank holidays. Earlier, on May 1, banks were closed due to Sunday i.e. weekly holiday.

Different rules for all states

According to the list of holidays given on the official website of RBI (Bank Holidays List 2022), banking holidays also depend on the notification of festivals celebrated in different states or special occasions in those states. All these holidays will not be applicable in all the states. In such a situation, before leaving the house to settle the business of banks in the month of March, definitely go out after seeing the list of bank holidays or else your day will be ruined.

  • Banks will remain closed on May 2 in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram on account of Eid-ul-Fitr.
  • Agartala, Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Gangtok, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi due to Lord Parshuram Jayanti/Ramadan-Eid/Basava Jayanti/Akshay Tritiya on 3rd May , Patna, Panaji, Raipur, Shimla, Srinagar will have a holiday for bank employees.

When will the months be closed in May?

  • May 2 – Bank employees in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram will observe Eid-ul-Fitr holiday.
  • Agartala, Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Gangtok, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi due to Lord Parshuram Jayanti/Ramadan-Eid/Basava Jayanti/Akshay Tritiya on 3rd May , Patna, Panaji, Raipur, Shimla, Srinagar will have a holiday for bank employees.   • There will be a holiday of bank employees in Kolkata on 9 May due to the birth anniversary of Rabindra Nath Tagore.
  • May 14 – Second Saturday of the month – On this day there will be a holiday for bank employees.
  • 15 May – Sunday – Weekly Holiday
  • May 16 – Banks in Agartala, Belapur, Chandigarh, Bhopal, Dehradun, Jammu, Kanpur, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla, Srinagar will remain closed due to Buddha Purnia.
  • 22 May – Sunday – Weekly Holiday
  • 28 May – Saturday – Fourth Saturday of the month – Banks will remain closed on this day.
  • 29 May – Sunday – Weekly Holiday
