New Delhi: Bank Strike: The Joint Forum of Bank Unions has called for a two-day nationwide strike on 30 and 31 January. A bank union leader said on Sunday that the strike is being done to pressurize various demands, including the 11th wage settlement.
11th wage settlement was done in November 2020
The 11th wage settlement of bank employees took place on November 11, 2020, between the Indian Banks’ Association and the United Forum of Bank Unions, a joint forum of labor unions in the banking sector.
Demands like working day, salary, pension are incomplete
Mahesh Mishra, state convenor of the United Forum of Bank Unions, said that issues related to settlement, demands like five working days a week in banks, promotion and salary and pension fixation have remained unfulfilled. He said that the joint forum has been trying to resolve the outstanding issues for the last 28 months, but the Indian Banks’ Association has not given any positive response.
Mishra claimed that one million employees and officers of all the banks of the country would participate in the two-day strike on January 30 and 31.
There will be no work in the bank for four consecutive days
At the same time, banks will remain closed on 28 and 29 January as well. January 28 is the fourth Saturday of the month, while on January 29 there will be a Sunday holiday in banks. That means banks will remain closed for four consecutive days and no work will be done. In such a situation, if there is any important work, then settle it beforehand. However, banking operations can be done through internet banking and mobile banking.
Explain that the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) represents the union of most of the banking employees and officers in the country. UFBU took the decision of nationwide strike in banks in a meeting held in Mumbai on Thursday.
