Bank Holidays: Big news! Banks will remain closed in these states from today till 31 March, check details

Bank Holidays: Jammu and Kashmir has continuous holidays from 27 to 31 March, but in other states, Eid holiday is on Monday (31 March) only. Keep in mind, there is no holiday on 29 March (Saturday).

Bank Holidays: Banks may get long holidays this week in Jammu and Kashmir. Banks will remain closed on Thursday, 27 March due to Shab-e-Qadr and on Friday, 28 March due to Jumat-ul-Vida. Apart from this, there will be a regular holiday in the whole country on 30 March (Sunday). Then on Monday, 31 March, banks will be closed in most of the states due to Eid-ul-Fitr i.e. Ramzan Eid. According to RBI’s bank holiday list, there is no holiday in banks in Mizoram and Himachal Pradesh on the day of Eid. That is, banks will remain open here on this day.

Will banks remain closed this Saturday?

In Jammu and Kashmir, there are continuous holidays from 27 to 31 March, but in other states, Eid holiday is on Monday (31 March) only. Keep in mind, there is no holiday on 29 March (Saturday), because it is the fifth Saturday of the month. In India, most banks (including SBI) are closed only on the second and fourth Saturdays.

ATM, online banking will work during holidays

Works like withdrawing money from ATM, mobile banking, or online payment can be done during holidays (only if the bank has given any notification in advance (such as maintenance time) then there may be a problem). But works like cheque or draft will not be done, because these come under the “Negotiable Instruments Act”.

Each state has its own holidays

Let us tell you that every state in India has its own holidays (according to festivals, local events). RBI releases the list of holidays every year, but check the updated information for the holidays of 2025 now. So keep these holidays in mind while planning and take advantage of online facilities.

Ask your local bank branch for exact information about holidays. Arrange money in advance for important works, especially if you live in Jammu and Kashmir, because banks will remain closed for 4 consecutive days there.
