However, if you are planning to visit the bank for any financial work, then you must check the list of bank holidays given by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The bank is going to remain closed for six days in the next 15 days. Check the complete list of holidays here.

RBI Holiday List

According to the RBI Bank Holiday List 2024, between August 15 and August 19, banks are going to remain closed for three days – August 15 (Independence Day), August 18 (Sunday) and August 19 (Raksha Bandhan). Apart from this, banks are also going to remain closed in Manipur today on Tuesday 13 August.

Banks will remain closed here on Rakshabandhan

Let us tell you that on the day of Rakshabandhan, banks will remain closed only in some states. Banks will remain open everywhere else. On August 19, banks will remain closed only in Tripura, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh. Banks will remain open across the country on Friday (August 16) and Saturday (August 17).

There are many holidays and national holidays in the month of August. August includes Independence Day/Parsi New Year (Shahenshahi), Raksha Bandhan/Jhulana Purnima/Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur’s Birthday, Sri Narayana Guru Jayanti, Janmashtami (Shravan Vad-8)/Krishna Jayanti.

Bank Holidays in August 2024:

  • August 13: Banks will remain closed in Manipur on the occasion of ‘Patriot Day’.
  • August 15: All banks will remain closed in all the states of India on the occasion of Independence Day.
  • 19 August: Banks will remain closed in Tripura, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh due to Raksha Bandhan.
  • 20 August: Banks will remain closed in Kerala on the occasion of ‘Sri Narayan Guru Jayanti’.
  • 26 August: Banks are closed in Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Chandigarh, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Sikkim, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh and Srinagar on the day of Janmashtami.

To avoid inconvenience, customers should check first and then go to the branch. However, you can do transactions and manage other bank related work through online banking and ATM despite bank holidays. These facilities will not be affected due to bank closure. During this period, you can do many mobile or net banking works, as all online services will remain fully operational.
