Bank Strike: On November 19, bank employees will be on strike. This strike has been called in protest against the targeting of bankers. AIBEA general secretary C.H. Venkatachalam said attacks have increased in recent times and there is uniformity in these attacks.

Bank Strike: All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) has announced a nationwide strike on 19 November. Giving this information, a union official said that the strike is being held to protest against the targeting of bankers.

AIBEA general secretary C.H. Venkatachalam said attacks have increased in recent times and there is uniformity in these attacks.

Venkatachalam told the members that there was a conspiracy behind these attacks. So we have to be ready for protest and retaliation.

He said the union leaders of AIBEA, Sonali Bank, MUFG Bank, Federal Bank and Standard Chartered Bank have been dismissed from service and retrenched.

Venkatachalam said state-run banks like Bank of Maharashtra are ignoring trade union rights, while Canara Bank, Bank of India, Bank of Baroda and IDBI Bank are outsourcing employees for many of their banking activities.

According to him, there has been a ‘jungle raj’ in the Central Bank of India, where the management is making indiscriminate transfers.

Venkatachalam said that over 3300 employees have been shifted from one place to another in violation of agreements.

He said that before going on strike, the members of the union would stage a sit-in protest.
