The first reason was that TGBCL had not revised the basic price of the company’s beer since the financial year 2019-20. The second reason was that the company had not paid the outstanding amount for the previous supply of beer by TGBCL. Due to these two reasons, the company had to stop the supply of its beer in Telangana because the company was suffering losses due to the attitude of the government.
The company sells 6 crore boxes in a year
Let us tell you that United Breweries itself makes beer of famous brands like Kingfisher. Not only this, it is the largest beer company in India, which has a 70 percent share of the entire market. This company sells 6 crore boxes of 12 bottles in a year across the country. In Telangana, the state government itself buys liquor from the companies and supplies it to all the shops. According to the Brewers Association of India, the price of beer in Telangana is around Rs 300 per box, while in Maharashtra it is around Rs 500. Due to state taxes and retailers’ margins, the consumer price is 5-6 times higher in most states.
