Beer Shop Closed: After the new excise policy, from the month of April, only 60 shops will remain for the composite sale of beer and English liquor, whereas till now the number of both shops here together is 99. The UP government has decided to license the retail shops of Indian-foreign liquor, beer and cannabis through e-lottery in the excise policy year 2025-26. In the previous years, only the old license holders were renewed.

Beer Shop Closed: The state government has changed the excise policy. Under this, beer and English liquor will be sold in the same shop. That is, both have been adjusted, whose license will be held by the same person. After this decision, 53 beer shops running in the district will be closed.

After the new excise policy, from the month of April, only 60 shops will remain for the composite sale of beer and English liquor, whereas till now the number of both shops here together is 99. The UP government has decided to issue licenses for retail shops of Indian and foreign liquor, beer and cannabis through e-lottery in the excise policy year 2025-26. In the previous years, only the old license holders were renewed.

Now once again, new people along with old license holders will be able to participate in the lottery for the shop. A maximum of two shops can be allotted to a person in the entire state in the e-lottery process.

So far, there are 53 beer shops and 46 English liquor shops in the district. Apart from this, there are 166 Desi shops. After the new policy, the shop of beer and English liquor has been composited. Both will be sold in the same shop. From April, the number of composite shops will be 60, while the number of Desi shops will remain 166. Apart from this, seven model shops will be opened.

Fee will have to be paid according to the municipal area

People wishing to take a composite shop in the municipal area will have to deposit a processing fee of Rs 75 thousand. The fee for composite shop in Nagar Panchayat has been fixed at Rs 65 thousand and Rs 55 thousand in rural area. Similarly, the fee for desi shop in Nagar Palika area is Rs 50 thousand, in Nagar Panchayat area it is Rs 43 thousand and in rural area it is Rs 40 thousand.

Apart from this, the fee for model shop in Nagar Palika area is Rs 80 thousand, in Nagar Panchayat area it is Rs 70 thousand and in rural area it is Rs 60 thousand. This fee will not be refunded. The first phase of e-lottery for the arrangement of applied shops will be done in the Collectorate auditorium on March 6.

Helpline numbers issued to participate in the lottery

  • District Excise Officer Himmat Singh said that under the new excise policy, the application process for the license of liquor shops is starting from Friday.
  • For this, application can be made on the portal. Fee will be deducted from February 17.
  • For the information of people interested in taking the shop, a chart has been pasted in the Excise Office premises.
  • Those interested in participating in the lottery can see the chart.
