BH Series: Registration fees will be able to be paid in installments, state governments will charge road tax according to their own, this is the new rule

The owner of the vehicle can take the BH series only while buying a new vehicle. The registration of BH series will be given on the basis of the state in which he resides or the state whose address proof is with him.

The Union Ministry of Transport has started the Bharat series (BH series) for vehicles. BH Series is suitable for those professionals who take transfer to other states in connection with the job. For taking BH series, the government has made some special rules which are for registration charge. The rule states that the owner of the vehicle will have to pay the registration charge in the same state where he resides. If the vehicle owner’s house is in Delhi, his transfer takes place in Punjab, then the registration money will have to be paid in Delhi and not in Punjab. However, the registration number of BH series BH series will be valid in every state of the country.

As per the rules of the BH series, the owner of the vehicle can pay the registration fee for two years and the remaining amount can be paid in installments in subsequent years. This installment will be in multiples of 2. That is, the vehicle owner can pay the installment for 4, 6, 8 or 10 years. A senior road ministry official told Business Standard, “Initially, the vehicle owner will have to pay the registration fee for 15 years. If there is a transfer or shifting of the vehicle during this period, the state government will reimburse the registration charge on pro-rata basis.

How to register for BH Series

If the vehicle has already got BH registration and it is transferred to another state, then there will be no need to take a new registration. The registration of BH series will be issued by the state governments. The state governments will collect road tax on their own accord and this work will be done in the same way as it was done earlier.

Earlier, to transfer the vehicles to another state, it had to be re-registered. This work used to be troublesome as paperwork had to be done more. This work was done in both the places. The state in which the owner of the vehicle resides and also in the state where the vehicle was transferred. Now that won’t happen. The number of BH series will be available in any one state and there will be no hassle of registration on transfer.

Can’t keep the car for more than 12 months

The owner of the vehicle can take the BH series only while buying a new vehicle. The registration of BH series will be given on the basis of the state in which he resides or the state whose address proof is with him. Employees of government and private companies will get the facility of transfer of vehicles to other states. Earlier, such employees used to face many difficulties in getting the paper transfer of the car, the problems used to increase, which will now get rid of them.

Under section 47 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, the owner of the vehicle is not allowed to keep the vehicle for more than 12 months in any state other than the state where the vehicle is registered. If it is more than 12 months, then the new registration has to be done by the vehicle owner within the stipulated time of 12 months.

Who can take BH series

At present, if the owner of the passenger vehicle wants to transfer the vehicle to another state, then he has to take NOC from the parent state (the state from which the vehicle is purchased). On this basis, new registration is available in another state. In the new state, the vehicle owner has to pay road tax. After this, the vehicle owner can apply for reimbursement of road tax in his parent state. Later, the money is refunded to him from the parent state on pro-rata basis.

The number of the new BH series will be given to defense employees, central and state government employees and private sector employees. However, it is necessary for private sector companies to have offices in 4 or more states.
