India will remain closed today and tomorrow. The Joint Forum of Trade Unions has announced a nationwide strike in protest against the policies of the Central Government.

New Delhi: In protest against the policies of the Central Government, the Joint Forum of Trade Unions has announced a Bharat Bandh on Monday and Tuesday i.e. today and tomorrow. Bank unions will also be involved in this. In view of the bandh, the state governments have made preparations at their respective levels. Let us understand 10 major things related to this bandh:

1. A nationwide strike has been called by a joint forum of trade unions to protest the government policies affecting workers, farmers and general public. Most of the work will be affected during this period.
2. Amarjeet Kaur, general secretary of the All Indian Trade Union Congress, told the news agency that she expected the participation of permanent and temporary workers in the Bharat Bandh.
3. Bank employees will also be a part of this Bharat Bandh. Bank unions are participating in the strike to protest against the government’s plan to privatize public sector banks as well as the Banking Laws Amendment Bill 2021.
4. Several banks, including State Bank of India , have issued statements informing customers that banking services may be affected on Monday and Tuesday.
5. Apart from banks , employees of many other sectors like steel, oil, telecom, coal, post, income tax, copper and insurance are likely to take part in the strike. Along with this, unions related to the railway and defense sector can also take to the streets in support of this bandh. Along with this, roadways, transport workers and electricity workers have decided to join the strike.
6. The power ministry today asked all government companies and other agencies to be on high alert, ensuring round the clock power supply and stability of the national grid. It has also been said by the ministry that power supply of essential services like hospitals, defense and railways should be ensured and 24×7 control room should be set up to deal with any kind of situation.
7. The West Bengal government has asked the employees to come on duty on Monday and Tuesday. Despite the Bharat Bandh, all state government offices will remain open.
8. In its memorandum, the Bengal government also said that no casual leave or half-day leave will be granted to any employee on March 28 and 29. The government has clarified that if an employee takes leave, then it will be considered as a violation of the order and it will also affect his salary.
9. The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh has announced that it will not join the strike. The Sangh said that India is motivated by bandh politics and its aim is to advance the agenda of selected political parties.
10. The All India Unorganized Workers and Employees Congress has supported the nationwide strike.
