Now you will get the facility of making Aadhar and Voter Card at railway stations only. RailTel, a company of the Ministry of Railways has started a scheme to operate Common Service Center Kiosks at railway stations across India.
With this, people going to and from railway stations will get the benefit of the services of Common Service Center at the station itself. These include booking of train, air, bus tickets, Aadhar card, voter card, mobile recharge, electricity bill payment, PAN card, income tax, banking, insurance etc.
The scheme has been operated in partnership with ‘CSC e-Governance Services India Limited’ (CSC-SPV), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. These kiosks will be operated by Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs). These kiosks have been named ‘Railwire Saathi Kiosks’. RailWire Saathi Common Service Center (CSC) Kiosks at Varanasi City Railway Station and Prayagraj City Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh have been commissioned on a pilot basis.
200 kiosks will open across the country
Similar kiosks will be made operational at around 200 railway stations in a phased manner. Out of these 44 are in South Central Railway, 20 in Northeast Frontier Railway, 13 in East Central Railway, 15 in Western Railway, 25 in Northern Railway, 12 in West Central Railway, 13 in East Coast Railway and 56 in North Eastern Railway. RailTel has provided public Wi-Fi at 6090 stations across the country making it one of the largest integrated Wi-Fi networks in the world.
Using this existing infrastructure at stations, RailTel, in partnership with Common Service Center (CSC), plans to provide broadband services in rural areas that will bridge the digital divide and fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Digital India. will move towards doing it. In this regard, RailTel CMD Puneet Chawla said that RailWire Saathi Kiosk will greatly benefit the people especially in rural areas.
